He is #18on our list. Bob Jacobson. He's looking to get $90k or better. We wish him luck.

Al Thurber
Mark Meldrum

I know that Al's car is not on our W listing yet but I'm sure we can validate it as a W at the show and add it.

OK, who's next for our list! Comon' guys! GET THOSE REGISTRATIONS IN! :beers:

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

OK Guys, 68 degrees here in NJ. Snow is melting, crocus are flowering, trees are budding.....

This can only mean one thing.....CB09 is right around the corner!

Is your W Convertible ready? Has the family been prepped for your disappearance? Did you put away those funds "your wife doesn't know about" for fuel, lodging (and beer)? :beers:

IT'S TIME! Get your registration in today! So far it's just Mark, Al and I are representing the W's. Drive it, tow it, ship it....do what you gotta do! You have spent these years, months, or whatever finding the car, many late nights on TC researching, hundreds of hours sourcing parts, many more hours assembling the car and prepping it just for this time!

Your W car will be featured at a NATIONAL event for the first time! (and on the cover of a WORLDWIDE publication).

THIS IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE. It's one thing to be proud to OWN a rare W convertible.....it's another to SHOW IT and SHARE it with hundreds of other enthusiasts!

MAKE IT HAPPEN! BE THERE!

GET YOUR REGISTRATION IN TO CHUCK TODAY! :D

BTW:In addition to the vehicle, if you have any oddball promotional items, and could share those with your fellow entuusiasts, please let Mark or I know about them.

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

Sent my entry in last week. Looking forward to a good time. Praying already for no rain.

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

As Stan pointed out, we have six "W" and "U" cars registered already. May be more in the pile of registrations that arrived over the weekend. I Would be happy to get about a total of 10 or so. We always use the Showcase cars for our cover shot of the issue that contains Chevell-abration coverage, and in the years where we had upwards of 20 vehicles, squeezing them all in the cover shot was difficult.

So, as an additional incentive, I'm gonna restrict the cover shot participation to only the first 12 (that's only SIX more) "W" and "U" cars that are registered. The decision will be made by postmark, not the day the registration arrives, which I think is only fair since mail from say, New York will take longer to get there than it does from Kentucky.

So, Tracy, what are you waitin' on? Gitcher butt down to the post office with your registration. There are a lot of us who'd like to see what your convert actually looks like after you finished it, in person and not in photos. Or is it (like some of the rumors that have persisted) a '72 Malibu that's been heavily photo-shopped??? You know, when I came up to buy the "Punkin," the blue car was on the lift and I neglected to validate the VIN on it before I left. So bringing it to CB'09 will give us all a chance to authenticate the car and see what kinda work you do.

Lookin' forward to having a great turnout of both the "W" and "U" cars this year. And with Kryla as the ringleader, all I can say is... Bring bail money!

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

Chuck-
Hows the turnout going compared to past years??? My entry should be one of the six you have, yes???

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

TOTAL production of the 72 Chevelle convertible, according to my book, is 4852.

Speculated (not confirmed, but an "educated guess" is 70 454 cars, 117 402 cars, and the rest are smallblock or 6 cylinder equipped.

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

Hello guys, I'm looking to raise some cash for a realestate deal so I need to sell my car. No, I'm not selling my 72 LS5 rag!:noway: I have my priorities... I selling my 1970 LS6 hardtop. See my add on 'cars for sale 1970'.

Stan - Did you ever figure out which of the 72 LS5 conv you have found has the most options on the build sheet?

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

Hey Glen,

We haven't taken our registry to that level yet. I may do that in the latter part of 2009.

Will we be seeing you at CB09? :beers: I could put your name on an ice cold Corona!

If you think that much of your 72 W Ragtop, You should share it! :D

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

Stan, the beer is very tempting! My car is presentable but in need of a restoration, all original interier and under the hood. It is not as clean as my buddies car - Dirk. His car is a fine example of a 72 LS5 Convertible.

CB09 is a long way to go for us here in Calgary. Wish I could be there but I likely can not make it.

Appreciate the beer offer though.

Cheers!

Glen

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

I was just reading another post where Chuck said that we are nearing our goal of 12 U and W cars for the cover. If you haven't sent in your registration, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

If you're a little light on funds my offer still stands. I have an extra bed for someone to crash on and I ALWAYS have an extra Corona or twelve to share! All you have to do is get your W car down here and pay for your own McD's!

GET YOUR REGISTRATION IN THE MAIL TODAY!

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

Re: Trying to track down additional 1972 SS 454 Real "W" Convertibles

Thanks to Chuck Hanson for the amazing pics of my car and to Gary Steele for taking my story and making it worthy of Chevelle World. It is truly an honor to see my car on the cover. It took some creative genius but Chuck finally found a background to make my car "pop".

For those of you who are not ACES members, my car was featured in the March/April edition of Chevelle World. For those of you who are Chevelle owners and not members - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?

Thanks again Chuck and Gary. I look forward to seeing you guys at CB09!

If you "U" and "W" convertible owners think it's cool to get your cover of a Worldwide Magazine - I can tell you first hand THAT IS IS VERY COOL!

If you have a "U" or "W" convertible and you'd like to see your car on the cover of CW - you can! Have you registered for CB09? If you are 1 of the first 12 to register - Chuck has PROMISED that your car will be on the cover!

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR - REGISTER NOW!
