I just wish it were a kinder, gentler NASCAR. I wish there were no "attitudes". After all, the whole meaning of racing---you know ---Getting there first---I mean, like what's with that? Shouldn't we all just let the others in line first? Oh, and I want World Peace.

Joe sure looked a bit withered fielding questions about the little twit. I'm actually surprised he has lasted as long as he has with Gibbs racing. And from the press release from Mars M&M his sponsor, it didn't sound like they were real thrilled either. Anyone think he will get his walking papers?

Then there is the destroying a custom painted Gibson guitar trophy,

then the little speeding ticket,

I think when Tuesday comes around, and NASCAR hands out penalties, he's going to get his eyes opened. He still hasn't figured it out, but there is a lot of young kids that follow racing, and its too bad he's near the top of the list of popular drivers.

Like a lot of pro athletes, these guys think they can always come out ok.
These guys are millionares. Some almost 10 times over. As long as they have that much money, they will continue to act like this because the penalties are typically just chump change to them. If these guys were getting paid what they were actually worth and having to really depend on a typically working mans paycheck. They would be singing a different tune no doubt.

Haven't watched a NASCAR race in probably five years and don't really miss it at all.
Thats about the same for me as well. I just find no intrest in it any more at all.

i think you are a bit conservative on how much money some of these guys make.. Dale Sr was the highest paid athlete in the world a couple of years before he died, and a good crewchief makes a few million a year as a base wage, plus bonuses and what not.. the drivers make more, plus they get all the sweet endorsements. i think Clint Bowyer is leaving RCR at the end of the year because he was "only" offered something like $5million a year and Waltrip offered him more- and he's just a second rate driver that hardly ever wins or even competes for wins.

if you want to send a message to these guys you gotta not only fine them a lot of money but keep them out of their race cars for an extended period of time.

that being said- someone needs to let Hornaday drive a Cup car next weekend if Kyle isn't parked for the rest of the season.. it doesn't need to be a competitive car- it's just gotta be able to qualify for the race.. i'm sure one of the "start and park" teams that are associated with RCR would be willing to let him drive..

Gibb's idea of what to do with Kyle punishment wise?
Kyle asked to be allowed to sit atop the box for the race and guess where he was???
Way to show your disgust for what he has brought onto your operation Joe! reward him with a prime seat for the race!
Anyone remember how hard he was on his players in the NFL???

for someone like Kyle, that's probably the worst punishment.. make him sit there and watch someone else drive his race car. i was kind of hoping that Michael McDowell would have had a really strong finish, if only to twist the knife a little bit and make Kyle realize that he is indeed replaceable..

I think when NASCAR makes a driver sit out, they should also keep the car/team out of the race,... Or in this case, maybe sitting out several races would be more appropriate...

You need really to "Hurt" the team owner in the pocketbook.

he wasn't driving a truck owned by Gibbs on friday.. it was a KBR truck he was driving. so it really wouldn't be fair for NASCAR to park a Gibbs car on Sunday.. hell, they didn't park the KBR car that Kyle was going to drive on Saturday in the Nationwide race- Denny Hamlin drove that one..

I think you re going to see more penalties handed out on tuesday. That was no accident and although it may have happened 60 mph slower Hornidays truck did not hit the wall all that much different than the crash that killed Earnhardt. So what would have happened to Kyle had seriously injured Horniday or worse, killed him? Would he be facing a manslaughter charge? He sure would had it happened on a public highway. I think no racing the rest of the year should be in order. If that were to happen, It would not surprise me if Gibbs were to toss him. He would be a real hard sell to a sponsor, David Ruitman should be paying attention here! Looking for a ride and already associated wit Toyota

Nascar is a TV Sponsor slave, doesn't represent any car a person can go to the dealer and buy, when any team owner has more than one car in a race the outcome of the race can be determined much too often with a yellow flag because someone like Busch crashed into someone else regardless if it is caught with obvious intent or not. NHRA is another TV Sonsor whore with little or no regard for the sportsman racer. It is no longer about the sport but about who can make a buck from the sport.

I don't watch much NASCAR anymore for several reasons that have nothing to do with this thread. My big concern is killing someone because you are "ticked off" or for some other reason. As was mentioned, Hornaday's hit was pretty severe....what if? If nothing else, NASCAR has got to put a stop to this crap! Stuff like this goes beyond the money, in my opinion.

$50000 fine is nothing to him, probation for 2 more races. He got off cheap I think, but we havent heard the final word from Joe Gibbs yet........

is that the official word? NASCAR usually dishes out penalties on tuesday.

Dale Earnhardt really made more money then Michael Shumacher, Michael Jordan, or some of those overseas soccer players? I am really surprised if that is true. Are you sure of his earnings rank? What about Tiger Woods? Not that Sr didn't make a bunch. I went to Atlanta right after he died. I bet 1/2 of the people were wearing #3 garb. Some of them had on every accessory you could buy that had a 3 on it.
