Is there any reason to worry about the intake valves or just get the guides fixed and a fresh valve job and put them back together?

That is true...but they did run about 3 years out of the box on the original Brodix valvejob.

You're right though, a poor valvejob will wipe out a guide pretty quick. Things have to fit together right.

It will be interesting to see how the new 3Xtra's on it now hold up.

how many miles, not years did you guys get out of your guides?

i had just around 10,000 miles on mine before i had them replaced.

saying you had 3 years on something IMO doesnt mean anything, because you could have had 30 passes on them, but those 30 passes were only on the track, where that is what 7.5miles..

Even though 30 passes may mathematically equate to 7.5 miles (not counting the return road and assuming a 1/4 mile track) engine wear goes up expontetially with rpm. It is not fair to compare dragstrip miles to cruising miles.

WOW ......when I got my Brodix BB-O's new in 2006 my engine builder insisted on redoing the seats etc before he assembled the motor withthem
I always wondered if it was really necessary on a new head ...... freshed up the motor last winter and some mild head work ..guides were "like new" I run the white viton on both intake and exhaust
Details will make the difference.

i guess im the only one who doesnt cruise.
every time my car goes out, it sees 6500 a lot. it sees 5000 before its fully warmed up. i hammer on my car more on the street than i do at the track. the car will sit and idle for hours before its shut off, or will cruise at 3500-4000 down the highway for 30-40 miles at a time, with a few WOT bursts, but that doesnt equate to WOT run for .25 miles? IMO a real test is a street motor that gets used and abused. my car also has seen the track roughly 3-4 times a year, with about 10-15 passes a year.

Mine has lots of miles in those years. Numerous road trips from TX to Kentucky, just did one to South Carolina, 200 mile cruise nights. Last month drove 300 miles to a cruise night in my old home town. Heck just did nearly 200 miles yesterday to go hang out with the North TX Chevelle dudes for lunch. Just some of the TX road trips can eat up 750+ miles easily.
