I'm doing a bench to bucket seat conversion on a 1970 El Camino.
I see conversion brackets advertised, but I don't like them. Does anyone make and sell the 4 brackets that resemble the factory floor brackets? I see some on ebay, but I thught I had seen some in a catalog a few years ao that looked just like the factory floor brackets. These ones I see now look like flat sheet metal and don't resemble the oriignal style floor brackets. Anyone used these and how did they work?

Also installing a console w/AT. Have the console harness and intermediate harness from M & H. I installed a underdash harness from M & H on this car a few years back, but this conversion to a console was not expected and we didn't buy the underdash harness for a console car. Will this underdash harness have the pigtails to plug into the intermediate harness? And if not, is there a way I can use this underdash harness and splice the intermediate harness into it?

Of course I'm posting here a little early on into this project. I could call M & H but thought I'd post here first and try to get answers from the guys who have been there done that.

Buckets and console are in. shifter is in. carpet is in.
I ended up using the cheapo brackets and fabricating a plate for the front outside mount. Worked fine.

Called M & H and Darrin straightened me out. The M & H #15065 round gauge dash harness has a pigtail w/plug for the intermediate console harness to connect to. It's near the stop lamp wiring and taped to the main harness. Found that and plugged it in, moved the nuetral safety switch wires to the other 2 plugs and tested everything. It all works perfectly. Console light and shift indicator lights working as well. Sometimes things do go right !!!:D

Was in need of the 70 round gauge dash ashtray springs. Found those thru The El Camino Store. $12 I see on ebay where Chicagomusclecars sells them as well.
Note: 71-72 ashtrays use a detent/pawl arrangement on the LH side and do not require springs (2). The aftermarket round gauge dash ash tray assembly is the 1970 style and uses 2 springs.
dscabra sold me the remainder of the bag of 100 new ash tray rubber bumpers. Have yet to install those. I have lots of extras if anyone needs a some.

Now...............
Does anyone know where I can find the lock retainer for the 70-72 console lid lock?
