Okay--sorry this took so long
These pics are in a 66 Elky
I am using 68 Buick GS seats
4-piece bucket seat mounting bracket kit
repro 68-72 seat tracks
68 Buick seat belts with retractors

I do not see where this would be any different for any 66-72 car
might even be applied to 64/5 with the later seats (not sure tho)

I had to scrape some sealer from under the rocker sill moulding to find an edge that could be used for a reference.

This might not be needed as both holes in the back are existing, but did come in handy for making sure the seat would be square.

The forward mounting studs are are inboard 1" from the original position, AND about 1/2" forward

It is kind of important to use the 'inside rear' hole in the floor to the outside hole in the tracks, as the seat will rub on the seat belt retractor if not moved inboard. (I have 1/2" clearance between seat & retractor.)

The existing holes are spaced at 1", so moving the seat would cause interferance.

The little solid black squares are the bracket stud locations to the seat track.

On the long inboard tracks, there is a L-shaped depression (note the blue tape "L" in the pic) that semi-mates with a stamping in the floor. This will give you a rough idea where it goes, prior to welding.

I just ran a few sheetmetal screws here for fitting. Will be replacing the floors very soon----just got the full length floors last week and they are now being epoxyprimed. I get to pick them up when I get home from this trip.

I am finally getting around to putting my bucket seat brackets in. I previously had bought http://www.ss396.com/mm5/graphics/00000009/ICC-001.jpg but ended up getting http://www.ss396.com/mm5/graphics/00000009/IBX-89K.jpg

What I wasn't sure of, are the use of the two existing bolt holes (rear/outer side). Will those still be used for the seat for mounting? It seems that is the only spot the brackets don't cover

Also, is there a way to stop the slideshow viewing of the photos in the original post? I need to study them a little better

Since I have my car up on jacks, with new floor pans screwed in, I can get you a couple of better pics.

My car is also up on jack stands right now. I don't quite have that drivers side pan fitted perfectly yet, but have some screws in it, and I'm trying to "persuade" the rest to fit, with my hammer. Hoping to weld it in tonight.

I'm finally getting around to putting in these brackets, and of course having nothing but problems. First off, my existing bolt hole is 6 3/4", but no big deal. I just added 1/2" to everything. Maybe it's my seats that are messed up? I believe they are from a 67 GTO

Biggest problem seems to be the seat is sitting lopsided. When looking if from the rear of the car, you can see a good lean inward of the back of the seat.

Another thing I'm not clear on. Of those two existing factory holes, is the inner most one used, along with a stud or bolt, for attaching the seat? Driver seat, while sitting in the seat, it would be the two holes in the left rear of the seat)

I just realized that the rounded end of the top track in above photo was welded on to the original track. Anywhere I can buy new (or used) tracks? Looked on GroundUp site but nothing for 66-67 (Plus a pair is $99!)

Would someone be able to post a pic or two of the seats of their 67 taken from outside through the rear window? (Like the one I have above)

It sure can't be right the way mine sit, leaning in toward the center of the car. Are there supposed to be spacers or something to help 'level' the seats?

(Should this be posted in it's own thread, rather than the 'sticky'?)

Wow! Along with Danny, I could have used this just two weeks ago. I ended up going a different route that cost me probably more and isn't probably as good. Dang!
