Here is a Google photo link to anyone that wants to see all the pictures I took during this restoration.

So far everything is coming along nicely, im almost sad this setup is not going to go onto my chevelle as the parts are night and day different now! Thank you to all those who are watching this thread.

I'm going to let the paint on the transducer cure a bit more then I'll mount it on the chevelle and see if it works.

Here is the finished product!

I'm going to do some finishing touches, get some parts that weren't included (needed for installation) and get ready to put it up for sale.

I may or may not include the steering collum plate only because it's supper easy to modify your original in that you need to make a 1 1/4" hole and that's it! so I'll just include a template where to drill it instead.

The transducer works perfectly (tested on my chevelle of course). The servo holds vacuum just fine.

The wiring harness was tested, and all wires are in great condition. The brake switch also works fine. The vacuum valve holds vacuum and preforms as it should. I will include the original hoses that in fine condition (No cracks) but can swap it out for new hoses.

Note that this does not include the turn signal lever and I won't add it to this set.

If anyone has specific questions about this setup speak up now. 😁

Your servo is correct for a 70-72 Chevelle. The one on our 70 is from a later 70s car (I forget which car) and the mounting bracket attaches to the threaded holes on the back of the head. BUT, no matter, it is still factory parts. And just how many people know the difference???

You absolutely have a point. What I present is a factory cruise control system I restored from a 1971 El Camino and 99% of the population won't know if it's factory or not. But to someone looking for this; HERR IT IS.

My nabhor came over to see what I was up to. And he asked me if I was putting it im my car. And I said "no" he was super confused and asked why I'm doing all this. I said it's the value of this information, obsessing over information about this whole system is extremely limited and having it in front of me is worth so much. Besides I like my own setup put too much time into it to not use it.

But when I do make the for sale post I hope it finds a good home.

Soooooo, How did you calibrate the transducer?
I didn't exactly recalibrate it. I took measurements of everything exactly how it was.

So for the case to you have to stick a ohm meter on the terminals and rotate the face until you get a certain value (about 40 ohm) then that determines the the minimum speed at which cruise will activate

And for the brass valve same deal but you want it to be covered when cruise is off and when cruise is activated the silver slide should cover almost all of the orifice but again I just put it back together using my measurements and it preformed well.

There is also a spring on the bottom that you can ajust for the solonid but I didn't mess with that.

Here is a manual that explains it very well

Hello Team Chevelle! I'm Michael and I'll be restoring a complete factory cruise control for a 70-72 A Body (Parts were from a 71 big block El Camino).

I'll be posting pictures as I go along through the process and taking exact measurements of everything so you can accurately recreate the system yourself. I do have a video going through everything so I'll post that later.

At the end I do plan on selling the system here on Team Chevelle, minus the cruise lever.
If you have any questions ask away. Hope to see DZAUTO here 😃

After some back and forth with the ebay seller, he was kind enough to send me the studs nessary for this set up and a few miscellaneous parts. And if anyone is wondering the parts are off a 1971 California big block 402 El Camino with Q-jet carb. The seller was also able to send pictures of the unit in the car! When I obtain the the studs I will refinish it and include it into the kit.

Thank you for everyone's support and to those following this thread!

Thank you Gary for your kind words.

Thanks for posting that Mike. Now those of us can make the stud since these are unobtainium.
Search the salvage yards for Q-jets. That's where I found mine.
