I just put in a new clutch after running a stock AC Delco for three years. With the Delco the car would 60' 1.71 to 1.74 launching @ 3000 all day long. I usually ran 12.0's to 12.teens.

I really felt the clutch was giving up alot and not transferring power to the wheels so I changed it out in favor of a Hays 34-618 PP with 2750 lbs of static pressure. I had a disc made for the car from Portland Transmissions in RI which is a sprung hub race compound.

The first time out with the 28x11.50 ET Streets @ 16 lbs., launching the same way the car blew the tires off through the 60 ft. So I aired them down to 14 and launched which resulted in a 1.95 60'

I tried 13, 14, 17, and 18 lbs. I still 60'd 1.91 to 1.95. I tried launching softer and I still only saw 1.90's. I tried launching harder @ 3500 and still was 1.90+.

Each time the ET was up to 12.40+

Any thoughts?

Since you said it blew the tires off, there goes your 60' times.
Perhaps the old AC Delco clutch slipped a bit and the new Hays is more aggressive and hits the tires too hard?

That was the first time on a street night where the track wasn't prepped. It was a 2.1 then.

At Englishtown last weekend, with a prepped track it was in the 1.90's. I should have put that in there. Sorry.

ET streets would not hook for me down to 2500 rpm and at any air pressure

Just wanted to let everyone know, and anyone searching in the future, I sorted this out.

I was using the Metco lowers with the relocation brackets to set the lower arms up like the old Southsides. They didn't work!

I removed them put the lowers to the stock location, and readjusted the pinion angle to -2, which made the car launch like it used to.

1.73 short times down from 1.95's!!!!

The car ran 11.87 @ 117. Better but I know it's got more in it.

11.87, thats rocking. So the re-location brackets made it not launch wow.

Dave
Once I changed the IC back, it picked up. I have a lot more research to do on suspension to get the car's ET to catch the MPH. Right now it looks like a basketball going down the track.

An HnR Parts bar is going in over the winter.
