Does the brand of the pipes really matter? Is there any performance upgrade between one 3 inch pipe and another? If they are all aluminized, mandrel bent tubes, does the summit kit for 249 work as good as the pypes exhaust for almost double the price. This is just the pipes themselves were talking about, not actuall mufflers. Also, is there any change in performance between shorty headers and full length headers, i originally planned on hooker full length, but now realize i should get shortys, my 70 is going to be 2-3 inches lower all around...Thanx Josh

3" mandrel bent is 3" mandrel bent, I'd go with Summit. My exhaust isnt even mandrel bent, curves into the tunnel and straightens out to the mufflers and dumps, right before it straightens out I had the H pipe welded in. No difference in performance with or without the exhaust. I'd go with long tube Hedman headers, they tuck up closer to the floorboard better than the Hookers or Dynomax that I've had on the car prior to these 2x3 Hedmans. Long tubes are worth a little more in the torque department, it all depends on what you want to do with the car, go racing? go long tubes, cruiser? get your exhaust manifolds coated. I personally wouldnt waste my time with shorties.
