I am putting together a 540. It has eagle rods and crank. J&E 10-1 pistons. Intake is a super victor with an 1150 Demon. Heads are Edelbrock RPM that have been ported. I am using a Crane Hydraulic roller 632 lift on the intake and exhaust intake duration is 318 degrees and the exhaust is 326 degrees and has a 108 degree centerline. I have crane gold roller rockers and pushrods are also crane. The distributor is from MSD AS IS THE 7AL box. I will also be running Hooker 2 1/8 super comps.
I have this hooked up to a turbo 400 by B&M that has a 10 INCH 3500 stall converter.
The rear in the car is a narrowed 9 inch Strange set up with a detroit locker and 4-11 gears. I am running 31 inch tall tires. This is all going into my 67 Pro street GTO.

What would you guys do different to this combo and how much HP could I get from this setup.

Quick run through DynoSim gets 610hp@ 6500 / 566tq@ 5500.
With just a change to AFR 315's it goes to 742hp@ 7000 / 613tq@ 5500.
I have to agree w/ Mike,The 1st thing is the AFR 315 Heads,The 2nd thing is the AFR 315 heads,the 3rd thing is (refer back to #1):hurray:

Some mismatching going on.
Small cam for a pro street 540, cam would work OK with eddy heads, duration @ .50?
Carb especially, intake, headers are on the big side for the eddy heads and cam. Since ya own the stuff use it. Sounds like a nice street combo. A 4150 1000hp carb on a ported vic jr would be good. Stall speed OK for your chosen camshaft/power zone.
The heads & cam will limit your power. This motor should peak quite early with the eddys giving you some extended life....
my $0.1.
635 hp, 585 tq.
Nice car.
Keep us posted.......good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys.
The short block is together so the compression won't be changed, but I could get a different cam. And maybe better heads. I also have a 250 shot of nitrous that I forgot to add to the mix. I am at work right now and don't have the cam specs with me, so I can't get you the duration at .50

Any ideas on a larger cam?
