Good morning! I'm trying to find out the correct name for the panel located under the rear window, behind the back seat...where rear speakers are typically installed.
I’ve always referred to it as the “package tray,” but it seems that’s not the right term. Does anyone know the proper name for it?

It is also called a rear window shelf or rear speaker shelf.

Package tray is kind of silly because any "packages" on that "tray" or "shelf" would become airborne during sudden braking. But that is the most commonly used term where I am.

The sheetmetal panel below and the trim "board" on top are both described using the same term so it can be confusing.

I cant replace mine, the darn rear seat is STUCK in place. OR 2) i am getting MUCH weaker at age!

Package tray. So when you hit the brakes hard, the packages hit you in the back of the head!

Yes, silly name, but names stick.

Some cars also have a vertical trim panel below the tray. That is called a trunk divider.

OK need an end of summer project before school starts up again and I have to work... who has that link for a specific thread (after constant searching I can't find it and it is making me mad) of the custom layered package tray with plastic board then speaker cover mesh over just the 6x 9 hole times 2 placed on plastic then covered in the black vinyl. Speakers are hung/mounted underneath it was real slick and didn't have those 1/2 inch deep plastic speaker covers on top of the package tray. they used the cardboard package tray as a pattern just cant find the thread thanks

Thank you Chris. I will look into that. 64 here and that would be similar to what I want to accomplish. Very subtle. Looking to do a custom one for about 50 bucks as I am pretty handy. There was a thread as an example of what I want to do but just can’t find it. I do have a pretty good pic in my head though so might just go with that. Maybe some pic’s in a few weeks and then ”I” would be the thread. lol.
