What could be the problem, fuel leaking from secondary throttle shaft

Just put a rebuilt holley carb on. Fuel would leak from the shaft area on the secondary throttle. Check the float level, seemed OK. Needle valve seemed to be OK. When I plug the flow of fuel to the fuel bowl for the secondarys all leaks stoped. Gasket looks OK. Any Idea's?

Since there are no fuel passages in the shaft area, I'd guess the fuel is spilling from the boosters and running out the shaft holes. You might try lowering the fuel level in the secondaries and see if that has any effect.

Thanks, the fuel level is lower than the site plug and it doesn't seem to dripping from the boosters. It seems to happen if the car doesn't start when I pump the accelerator. Was wondering if there was some way fuel that is dumping into the primaries can run to the back and leak out the shaft?

is it a double pumper?

no it's not a double pumper. I am to the point that I think there is a crack somewhere. Anyhow, I ran it for about 1/2 hr yesterday afternoon. Then shut off. About 1/2 hr later fuel started to drip from the bottom of the rod that connects the secondary throttle shaft to the secondary diaphram. Is there anywhere fuel can leak around the plate in the secondary fuel bowl area into the main body down to the throttle plates and out the shaft area? Thanks, Jim

secondaries are not overflowing into the bowl. could the gas be leaking through the block and gasket that seals the bock to the main body and gas be running in that way? It seam to leak until the rear bowl is almost empty and when I plug the line to the rear bowl so no gas goes there I have know problem.

I'd pull it apart and put new gaskets in. Then you'll know for sure if that's where it's leaking.
