Hey guys, just dropped in my new 454 and now just putting on the last finishing touches. Just wanted to know where the Throttle / Accelerator cable go thru on the firewall. I put the BB Throttle / Accelerator cable where my small block cable was at, and it doesn't read the bracket. Well up about an inch, and towards the passenger side, there's another square hole that looks to be the size. So I just want to know where it goes. Anyone have a picture?

If you go straight back from the accelerator bracket you'll have the spot.

Not being faciscious, but that will get you very close.

The assembly manual shows locations for all holes in the firewall which are usually marked by dimples and pertain primarily to add on options.

The accelerator cable is also shown, but it's an approximate with no dimensions listed.

This is for 1970 I'm referring to but the same should apply.

Go straight back and you're good to go.

I "think" that the big block requires a different throttle cable. When I swapped out my 350 for the 454, I bought GM part number 336969 (about $16). If memory serves me right, it's a little longer than the small block cable. I put mine through the same hole as before.

I did buy that cable. It's not long enough to reach the bracket. I put it in the same location as the small block on. I'm going to have to try the other hole.

Hmmm....stock cable bracket or an aftermarket type??? Holley or Q-Jet????

Cheap chrome aftermarket bracket for a Holley. Wish I could find a stock bracket.

Ok guys, I have an update. Well my friend has an original 70 SS 396 with a holley and a stock bracket for the throttle cable. I took my chrome bracket and the 336969 throttle cable, and measured....and guess what?! Everything is the same!

So we were thinking why it fits his car, but not mine. Well we remembered that I was using the small block mounts on the motor, so that is the only conclusion that we came up with. So he just modified my bracket, and we will see if it works or not.

Small block engine mounts on a big block? Do you have your drive shaft hooked up yet?

Kind of concerning if the throttle cable is off by that much.

Drive shaft is hooked up already. But I'll have to make sure everything is in line.
