Hey everyone! New guy to the forum..Just picked up a 1968 Chevelle..factory 307 car but has a 327 now..Not sure what it came out of..First issue is temp gauge is inop. The sensor I believe is on the pass side head (which is the opposite side that everyone said it would be in) Is it a safe place to start by just putting an aftermarket temp sensor in? One wire comes off of the sensor and runs to a wire cluster on the firewall..No breaks or shorts...Anything helps, Thanks everyone!

Try grounding the wire after removing it from the sensor.
If the gauge moves, that would let you know if it's a wiring, gauge or sensor problem.

you might just have the wrong sender... the one for a gauge will have a little "button" sticking out that the wire slides onto at a 90 degree angle.. a sender for the idiot light has a regular blade terminal sticking straight out... the same wire and connector is used for both..

Thanks for all the input fellas, much appreciated... For now I ran an aftermarket one from the intake to a single gauge... Just need something temporary to make sure it doesn't get too hot while I start messing with other stuff.
Also, any suggestions on places to get body panels? Would like the best fit possible. (Front fenders are the only full panels it needs)

Thanks!
