I switched my 70 chevelle from a auto to a floor shift. What can I do with the part of the column that used to have the shifter on it? Does someone make these without the shifter boss? Can I scrounge something at the boneyard? What other cars will interchange? Can I take this off and have it welded up, not sure what kind of material this thing is?

Several people have cut off the boss and covered the gap with fiberglass or other type of filler. They have indicated that the modification is difficult if not impossible to detect.
