Hi all, can anyone tell me what speed rating for front tires? To match with BFG drag radials. I just received my 275-50-15 BFG drags. Thinking of going with a 215-65-15 tire for the front. Can the 215-65-15 handle the weight of a big block? Looking forward to your responses
Gary.

Yeah, the 215/65 should handle weight no problem. I would go with at least an "H" rating to compliment the drag radials. I assume since you ordered drag radials the car will see at least 100+ MPH. You need at least an "H" to handle that speed safely.

Yeah but do you want to run the tires right at their rating, probably not. I always buy tires rated for much more than I plan to throw at them.

I guess you have a point,I will be running the drag radials on the street. I have ben told you should run the same speed rating front and rear. So I was trying to match them as close as possible. Thanks again!
Gary.

Hey Mello, on the street I run 32 psi, at the track I drop em to 20 psi.

I've been told I can go as low as 12 psi but havent tried it.

Gary, Thats the size on the front of my 68 SS-396.

I'm sure there is a saftey factor figured into the speed rating of tires.

But like Dennis said, and for all the more they cost, might as well be on the safe side.

My mph is only 106 through the traps though.

Gary if I'm looking at the correct code they are only H rated.

I'm not even sure what speed that is.

Like Chris said, the BFG Drag Radials handle great.
Thats part of the reason I bought them, I had a smaller set that my brother passed on to me, and other than wet traction, (shallow tread depth, and mine were used), you'd never know they weren't just another quality radial.

The used drag radials were way better than the "Cheapo" radials that were on my car when I bought it.

ZZ, we run the drag radials on the street as well as the track. So speed rating on the street comes into play. Thanks for all your replys! I will call BFGoodrich tomorrow and ask what the best match is for the fronts.

As I said I called BFG today they said the best match for the drag radial, are T or H rated tires for the fronts. Has any one had a bad experiance running the drag radials on the street?????

Gary,
Would you call sliding into a guard rail a bad experience? In 2k I was on my way to the NW regionals and long story short the drags do not work on wet pavement. Was about $3500 damage. Fotunately a buddy owns a chain of collision centers. Old Blue is better than new

I still own drag radials but won't ever drive on them on rainy days
