Just want to express how lucky we are at Team Chevelle to have the knowledge and experience we have here. I follow a couple other automotive related forums and the knowledge base on those forums is a joke compared to Team Chevelle.

Won't mention them by name but they are very active forums. I have repeatedly been disappointed by responses given on these other forums. Sure there are some with knowledge on these forums but there are many more that don't know there ass from a hole in the ground but dole out advice like it is gospel but anyone with a little knowledge can discern the difference.

So now that I have that rant complete I will just finish this post with saying Team Chevelle is one of the best.
yep I see that too alot, then when you try and help being one of the ones that know things, you get attacked by those asshats.

When i was redoing my corvette, i asked all my questions to corvette central instead of the fourms they were very helpful
Another character that has been on this forum also has a 1974 Corvette with a 454 4-speed. I miss the days of banter with Big Block Dave. He was impertinent, witty and funny.

Or when they post a what's it worth question, but the answers are not what they want to hear. They get their panties in a wad and claim that we are picking on them, treating them unfairly, or we just don't know what we are talking about.

Camaro forum is worse than Corvette for me. Camaro 6 was fine. I used to check out yellow bullet but never joined. They were brutal years ago. Haven't looked lately. The hull truth is super busy and gets way off track but I like it. Sea Ray forum was really good but they moved to this xenforo platform and many couldn't stand it and left now getting quiet. Yeah I'm a boater, too. View attachment 824827 Team Chevelle rates at the top even though I'm not terribly active. If I snag another Corvette (that'll be #9) I'll get active back over on the Corvette forum again.
My cousin Steve Puckett was Sea Ray Trouble Shooter from Savannah ! Voted APBA Mechanic of the year ! He explained to me how most older marine big blocks are stretched out of shape ! He died a couple years ago !

It seems that the new people here think they know more than those of us that have lived this lifestyle for decades. Then is a short time they ask basic questions . We have had several appear in the last 2 years. I tend to avoid anyone new.
One thing I appreciate is the language is much better than some sites.
I do not like it when you offer personal experience and someone says its not possible. Anyone can disagree without being crude.

100% , I in fact got a lot of opinions on my power window install in a chevelle and every video and suggestion says remove all the components , track , glass etc in rear quarter windows to install power regulator. Out of curiosity I removed old crank regulator without touching anything else , swapped in power regulator and 20 minutes it was done . First quarter took be almost 2 hours to line up tracks etc . Everyone said can’t be done must remove all etc

I was a member on that Forum and honestly the attitudes present over there drove me out of the Corvette part of the car hobby. Between the opinions expressed there and my encounters with Corvette enthusiasts at shows, gas stations and other places when I had the car out for a drive I was just totally fed up. To be fair there are many many good guys in CorvetteWorld but I felt that the prevalent attitude was one I was not gonna put up with. At shows I saw beautifully done resto mod cars ripped to pieces for non numbers compliance by guys who in my opinion had no hope of being able to change a spark plug let alone execute the level of craftsmenship exhibited in some OWNER modified cars. Even professionally done restos that were non numbers compliant were targets for the numbers crowd. Many of those guys can't see past the bias ply tires, factory paint, original xyz and the rest of the 'Born With" parts mantra.
I owned my ‘65 ‘Vette for 15 years before selling it 5 years ago. I turned nearly every nut and bolt on it during that time. Sometimes I knew what I was doing, sometimes I didn’t. The C2 technical forum was very helpful on many occasions but just like any forum, including this one, you often have to wade thru a lot of responses to get what you need. I found only a handful of members actually knew what they were talking about and gravitated to their advice. As I recall, DZAUTO was one of them. Anyway, I get why so many are turned off by Corvette enthusiasts. I encountered the same attitudes and swore I’d never be like them if I could help it. I had an “expert” at one show tell me what all was not “right” with my car like I was too ignorant to already know. I had driven it 175 miles to get to the show so whatever was not “right” obviously worked. His comments were unsolicited so I politely but firmly asked him to move on which he did in a huff to my delight. That said, I miss owning a C2 but I don’t miss the numbers matching, nose in the air crowd that often comes along with them.

Two of my "dream Vettes" would be a replica of the" Hot Rods to Hell" Vette , but with a stouter old school small block . The other one a C3 with day 2 mods like I used to see as a kid . Guess I'd be a unloved puppy in much of the Vette community, but I'm sure it wouldn't bother me much .;)

Same here as far as wrenching all my own stuff., same feelings I had.

My 66 had a Richmond 5 Speed, my Muncie was shot and I had the Richmond from another project. I loaded the Richmond in and put a stock appearing Muncie lever onto the top of the Hurst that controlled the Richmond. The lever came right thru in the stock location in the console and I modified the mounting bracket that provided the mounting point for the Hurst. The mod lowered the entire Hurst mechanism maybe 2 inches lower toward the road so that the console and boot looked stock from above. I also had a 5 Speed "insert" on the console. Some dork saw the 5 speed shift pattern insert on the console and asked about what was up. I told him and got the following response: "You never should have changed the transmission from a Muncie to a non OEM unit but if you hadda do it I gotta tell ya that I noticed that the shifter lever is a bit taller than stock. Your attempt to hide the swap didn't come out so well" !!!!! Hide it, if I was hiding it why would I put the 5 speed insert on the console ????!!!!! I just liked the Muncie lever so I found a way to use one. End of story. A buddy of mine had another C2 with a stock Muncie and a stock shifter. I measured his lever and compared the height of each shifter. Yup mine was maybe 5/8 (likely less if memory serves me) of an inch taller than stock! I was absolutely crushed. couldn't sleep that night! LoL! I asked myself if Mr. Dork could have pulled the swap off but said nothing to him.

To be fair, on the flip side, there are a lot of nice guys in the Vette hobby. I grew up in the North East and I visited home maybe once a year to see family. A guy I met via CF and I struck up a friendship. He was doing a serious restomod with an LS and a Tremic after having had more than a few numbers cars. He knew I was headed home and invited me to see his cars, the resto mod car and the numbers cars. He lived maybe 50 miles from my home town. I went over one afternoon and we had a great time hoisting a few beers and talking cars. He then invited me to have dinner in his home! It was the first time we ever met face to face but we had exchanged a lot of E-mails on tech subjects.

The Vette guys are NOT all jerks but the percentage of dorks in that segment of the hobby is IMHO higher than it is in other parts of the hobby.

Did the same with my wife’s 78 SA Vette. Installed a BW World Class T5 swap for original T350 auto. Stock shifter with 5 speed plate. The comments she gets.

You know a Corvette "guy" that would've been a great contributor and would've been able to talk Corvette with total authority? Zora Arkus Duntov (y)
He was building them up into where he wanted to take them (with GM bean-counters looking on), he wasn't caught up in the social signalling that said "I own a Corvette and I'm GOOD!"

In any crowd you are bound to find those that know the price of everything, but the value of nothing.
Hearing the roar of side-pipes, to me is priceless.

I was banned from corvette forum for expressing my political views three weeks ago. I’m kinda glad now that it did happen.
I HEARD that a certain Canadian( 123pugsy) is giving bogus advice to members ONLY if they are form "south of the ( Canadian ) border " .I won't mention his named but ,seems this member (123 Pugsy ) has a bad chip on his shoulder for us Po' ole' USA 'uns !🤣 Sorry Pugsy , it was just to good to pass up ! i did say i was retired army of 37 years so i guess some didnt like that i said that, so i was banned. so for now my conversation are is limited to vets and car lovers which should be everyone here god bless america...

No, you were banned for being an asshole. A simple civil difference of opinion is not what happened and not why you were given a vacation.
