Since I bought my trans from Frank at GP superstore I got a great price but no instructions.

I know you are susposed to use syncromesh fluid but how much? What is the recommended break in and do I use the same fluid?

Last but not least I have a bare Z-bar and a rebuild kit for it. Where do the felt type rings go? They are a lot bigger diameter than the hole in the tube.

I guess part of the reason you got a "good deal" is the lack of little things like instuctions. I wonder about customer support, how do you think old Frank will be if you have a serious problem????

Sometimes it makes sense to shop around for a deal, and sometimes it pays to buy from a dealer that is there when you need them, and in the case of a aftermarket trans that is a big ticket item, I think somebody like Classic Chevy would be a good bet. This is just my take on this.

Thanks for the answer I was looking for. If you will look Frank is a sponcer here. I saved $1500.00 because I can make and source myself 1/2 the stuff that Classic Chevy sells with there kit. I am building a custom hot rod on a budget not a step by step kit car. If I had unlimited dollars I could just buy a turn key car but what fun would that be. Franks not a fly by night doing this stuff out of his apartment. Prodigy builds some of the highest caliper cars in the nation. I have utmost confidence if I have a problem Frank will take care of it. In the meantime that $1500.00 I saved paid for my one of a kind custom brakes and 3 of my tires.

Back to the question if anyone is willing to share the info. If not I will call Frank or Tremec on Monday

Just go to Classic Chevy's website and all the instructions are there, at least for the trans install. If I recall correctly, its about 2.75 qts of tranny fluid. Standard Transmission and Gear in Fort Worth sells and services Tremecs, they should also be able to help you. My TKO 600 is there now.

Are You saying the Transmission is out of your car again? I'm starting to think that the trans spends more time on the bench, then in the car.

If you post something here and don't like the answer, then don't post a question here:yes::yes::yes: It's all part of the deal, and you should be willing to take the good and the bad comments without getting your panties in a bunch:p:p:p:p

Great attitude from a moderator. I'm sure Dean is proud.

Perfect!! Thank you very much

Anyone have tips on break in.

Edit: Still not sure after looking at that picture

I don't see anything that looks like these two felt pieces. I have the two hard to see (in my picture next to the felts) plastic pieces. Is that #2 in that diagram? I was thinking one should go at each end. Is#5 the felt pieces. If so did my rebuild kit come with an extra? This is for a 66 even though that diagram looks to be 68-72 but I would think they would be close to the same.

The only felt piece I have on my 69 is between the z bar and the U-shaped bracket on the frame.

I'm sorry you feel you are being treated in a manner that you don't like, but about all we have left in this world is freedom of speach, and I like to take it out for a walk every now and then.

the felt pieces go on the pivot ball at block and on the bolt connecting the z-bar to frame bracket.
they help keep dirt out of the grease........ :)

break-in tips = drive normally for about 400-600 miles before getting aggressive on shifting and high rpm's :)
