Right now the rear window is out of my '69 as the rear quarters were replaced by the last owner. All the needed body work has been done and the car primed and sealed. I need the do the interior and was trying to decide if I should have the rear window reinstalled or would there be any advantage to leaving it out?

wait till you finish painting.if planning on buffing put it in before you start wet sanding the paint

Probably best to leave it out for now, Mike.
The pinchweld should be painted first, also it's a lot easier to replace your headliner if you're doing that too.

I'm sort of in the same boat, and both front and rear glass will stay out on mine until the paint is done.

i would recomend leaving it out. if your car sits for any length of time with the window installed and no trim it will settle down and have to be pulled and reinstalled.... guess how i figured that out : )

i put mine back in.. kinda a pain in the ass to mask it off every time i spray fill primer.. I would leave it out

You need to paint the channel before the window goes in. Your windows won't sag down if you install the small rubber blocks for the window to set on.

Don't forget to install the clips that hold the rear window stainless trim before you put the glass back in.
