I'm putting the heads back on my brothers sbc. He has arp head studs on it. He just pulled the heads off to check his clearance for a new set of afr heads he's putting on later. Now should I pull the studs out and put sealer on them and reinstall them or just put the heads back on and torque them down.

if they were in the engine before and didn't leak there'd be no reason to fiddle with them.

I usually remove them to get the deck clean, then use ARP teflon sealer on any stud going into water, blind holes just get regular ARP lube.

Finger tight.

I agree ^. They will leak on the ones going into a water jacket.
They did on mine until I sealed them.
