I got mine from Hinshaw's Chevelle parts and the bends weren't perfect but I was able to tweak it enough to make it work OK.

 

Just had the same problem, ordered 2 sets of lines and both wouldn't work. After a phone call to a good friend LS6rag, he told me that it was probably the fuel pump that I bought was defective. I had bought a long bowl, vented pump with the AC logo stamped on it from Parts Place. It seems there are a bunch of them floating around, when they were made the bottom section wasn't rotated to the right position when it was crimped to the top section. The bottom fitting is facing more towards the oil pan and it's impossible to connect the line. So after getting a new pump that had the fitting facing the right way, the problem was solved. Maybe this is the issue you're having.

 

EVERY fuel line and brake line I bought from The Right Stuff for now 3-1/2 cars pretty much dropped right into place. As suggested perhaps other parts are in play. But overall, you should contact The Right Stuff to determine if the line you got is indeed the correct one for your particular car. They've always been completely helpful when I had questions and they also have made me one-off lines (I wanted a larger diameter front to rear fuel line) and have modified stock lines for me to fit my car to accommodate aftermarket upgrades (rear disc brakes).

 

There are several different pump to carb lines for. LS6 cars made. Make sure you have the correct one. There are ones for original carbs and modern carbs along with a generic one that puts the Y block in the center of the carb.

 

Some trivia:
The long canister fuel pumps are DIFFERENT ! ! ! !
I was helping a friend install his pump and pre bent line on a 70--LS-5. The outlets on his pump were not correct or CLOCKED WRONG. After some checking....... His issue was ---He had a long canister fuel pump for a Corvette.
Are you positive the pump is for a Chevelle and not a Vette? :nerd: Just throwing this your way ! ( A Vette pump is very close but NO Cigar.)

Not a '70, but I had a real hard time finding a pump to carb line for my '69 Malibu with stock 350 4 bbl a few years ago. After trying one from every tubing supplier I could find, the only line that came close to fitting was from Classic Tube. Took a few tweaks but it worked.

 

I have a GM LS6 crate engine with ac/delco 727 short pump . Fits well Into the pump but will rub on the balancer slightly , I can tweak that a bit but the big problem Is where It enters the Y block . Its about 2.5" short . I contacted RSD and the gal there was asking me If the long pump line might work . Im gonna say no cause I believe the clocking Is different on It . Yes. By quite a bit, the stock LS6 intake is very flat.

It looks like you could slightly bend the tube up and make the connection.

 

For one thing I don't think an LS6 line is considered to have a Y-block. Y-blocks were more on a 396-375hp car. When I bought my car the PO had made his own line and I'm surprised he didn't burn the car up. He didn't double flare the lines only single flared them and they were terrible for single flares to the point when I started the car gas collected in all the valleys of the intake. I bought a chrome line from Jeg's and found out it was right in line with the heater hose. I decided to try a line for a 69 396-375hp car with the Y-block. My car had a Holley on it that only had one metering plate where a 375hp car had 2 metering plates. I checked in the Right Stuffs catalog and they made the bowl part of the line for both a 2 metering block Holley carb and for a 1 metering block carb. Everything lined up fine but down at the pump the line was short because it had the long pump on it. I was going to replace the pump anyways and went to the short pump. The line was perfect in length now just needed a slight tweak to be able to start the fitting into the pump by hand. A few pics this is a Y-block line. :thumbsup:

 

Good point Hank, you really can't expect any part you order to fit when you order it for a certain car/engine and that car/engine has been modified.

 

The 1970 LS6 definatly had a dual feed line with Y block to my knowledge . I guess If my LS6 crate Intake Is significantly higher than the "stock" LS6 Intake Im never gonna find a pre bent line to fit It unless maybe theres a Corvette or Camaro that uses this Intake ? I have a 1971 LS5 engine car also and that Intake sits really low , no rise to It . Anyone have a picture of the stock 1970 LS6 Intake for comparison ? The RSD line comes out In the right spot , just 2.5" low . No way I can see to make It fit properly , just not enough line there to work with .

 

Not sure about Right Stuff, but In-Line Tube and Classic Tube (IIRC) will bend up a custom line for you... You could cut your line along a vertical section, add the needed length (doesn't have to be functional, use witness marks or even a coat hanger), and they can bend a new line. I can bend my own, but I don't have the talent to make it perfect where its out in the open...

and I am thinking of doing this for my '66 L78 (as the '66 fuel pump is unique and expensive, but 67+ are easy to find and cheap, but the '66 line differs visually from the '67-68 lines )...

 

As Rich said, your intake looks much higher than stock and that's where you're coming up short. Here's reference picture for you.
