Ok I bought new agr box, agr pump and new hoses. First off is there anything else in this equation I should be replacing while im at it, like maybe the rag joint. Do I need to take the actual shaft out. What steering position is the new geerbox in I am assuming its centered. If anyone can give me a step by step I will name my second born after you :D

Here is the link for steering wheel centering.

The GM steering gears have a missing tooth on the pitman shaft that matches up to a blocked tooth on the pitman arm. So the pitman arm only goes on one way. Some gears have four missing teeth equally spaced around the pitman shaft. If that is the case, you still can't install the pitman arm 90 degrees off. With the gear on center, the pitman arm should be pointing rearward in line with the gear.

If you are going to replace your flexible coupling (aka rag joint) I strongly recommend that you purchase a OEM part and not the "kits" that have a rubber disc and a lot of bolts and lock washers. The OEM part has the stop pins hot staked in place. It is far more secure than the bolt-together parts.
