I'm having a dilemma. I'm looking for an inexpensive way to retain the function of heat, defrost, vent, etc. on my factory air car. When I got my car it had a modified A/C box on the firewall and no other air parts, with the exception of the controls in the dash. Would the easiest way to convert be to buy a heater box from a non-A/C car and swap the controls inside? If so does anyone have these parts? I'm ok with filling some holes on the firewall and mounting things differently if I have to. I'd just like to avoid spending $1000 on Air of some variety.

Car is a 72 Small Block non SS car.

Thanks!
Matt

Take a look at the conversion box from American Grafitti. It replaces the AC box and allows the use of your current controls. I think that they sell on eBay. And do a search here on that name to find a thread where that box is discussed. A few folks have made their own conversion box. It might be something to consider if you like working with fiberglass.
