I have access to a remote starter that I thought I might use while tuning my engine...I have headers and it would be real difficult to attach the wire on the starter...I have identified the purple wire that goes acrross the back wall and down to the starter...what would be a good way to splice into this to make attaching the remote starter quicker and easier? The starter has aligator style clips...anyone ever do anything like this? Or am I way off base here?

Many years ago I found temporary contact push button switch (only on while you hold it) and installed it on the radiator support near the horn relay. Wired from horn relay to switch to starter solenoid. I could stand in front of the car or beside the drivers fender and bump the engine over. Good to set top dead center or bump over while adjusting valves.

The purple "S" wire comes off the starter and is routed in the harness that runs up over and behind your master cylinder. Dig that purple "S" wire out of the harness and scrape a bit of insulation off of it. Thats the most convenient place to attach the remote starter alligator clip to.

When you are done put some electrical tape over the bare spot you created and tuck the wire back inside the harness.

As always : Be SAFE! Make sure that your car is in neutral or park if automatic or out of any gear if it's a stick BEFORE you push that remote starter button!
