I have a sbc with a blower in my 67 chevelle. I would like to add vintage air but don't have room for a 3rd pulley on the crank. Has anyone driven both the power steering and a/c compressor from the same belt? I am thinking about adding a dual pulley to the water pump to maximize the belt wrap. If so, how well did that work out?

I have had my PS belt come off and the a/c belt was enough to spin the PS pump but you could tell it was not happy. I think the PS pulley is too in line with the A/C compressor (in most cases) to create enough contact on the PS pulley to make it a viable set up with one belt. As most factory set ups go, the A/C belt is just barely riding on the PS pulley and serving as a kind of idler pulley.

My alternator and power steering pump are on the drivers side. What I was wanting to try is use the inside belt to run the water pump and alternator from the crank on the inner belt and then add a double pulley to the water pump. That would let me run the outer second belt over the compressor on the passenger side, the second water pump pulley, and the power steering of by the outer crank pulley. I think I should get a fair amount of belt contact with both the water pump and crank pulley to satisfy the compressor and pwr steering. Has anyone done this?
