well it's too late now, but since I found this board I might as well ask. My car got finished up and was shot with Dupont URO Primer, and I gues they only make it in grey or that tan color. I wanted them to shoot it black, and I could have sworn that PPG makes a DP90 black primer that's supposed to be a good one. Who makes good primers that are diff colors, I have another car I'm doing and wanted to know for refrence. Also is the URO primer a top notch primer? it was expensive as hell, so I hope so.

thanks

Your Dupont URO primer is a great primer in my mind one of the best on the market. Just curoius but why the big fuss about BLACK primer why must it be black? Also keep in mind most but not all 2K primers can be tinted to achieve different colors.

Also the DP90 you mentioned is no longer made. You can only get dp90lf and that stuff is pure crap. It is not the same as the dp90 not even close. Not something you want to be used over bare metal and even PPG recommends that you dont apply to bare metal, a self etching primer should and needs to be used before.

Sherwin williams and martin senour paints the same paint just different labels have a primer that comes in many different colors, even black. Alot better primer then that DP90. I used to work with sherwin williams paint every day, and that line of colored primer is a great one...Eric

Well, I wanted black because I wasn't going to paint the car for a while, and if I have to stare at it in primer it might as well be something other than joe schmoe grey or tan... anyways, if the URO is one of the best, I guess I should be happy (which I am) with what went on the car.

thanks a bunch,
Jalil

speaking of experiance black is a horrible primer color ppg makes both black and white primer both are crap but like in your case people use them to hide the fact that their vehicle is primered problem with black nothing shows up you cant tell where body rolls or waves are even after you've guide coat sanded best thing that happened is you didnt find it
