Sounds like the NW crew found a new place to have cars painted!
:noway: If you're very observant at all you would have seen that all NW cars are black primer. ;)

I agree. Most of the gals that ever seem attracted to my car look like they could have appeared on the Jerry Springer show.

By the way Brett thanks for the belts. I got them from John a couple of weeks ago. With what I had, what I got from you, and what John gave me a few months back, I should be able to put thogether a near perfect set.

Sweet! I've got a beautiful set from a 68 too now. For some reason they were in my Dad's 55 but were too short to even put them on. :clonk:

Ok, its officially done, hes just cleaning off some compound and the interior. Should have her home by 6 today. :hurray: :hurray:

OK, I figure I have a couple hours to get the opinions of the NW crew on another car before it explodes with awesome pics of Brett's car.

Terry sent me some pics of a car that is for sale in Canada a few days ago. I am seriously considering it for several reasons, but wanted to get the opinions of you guys, being more knowledgeable, before I start bothering the seller ;). I'll post some pics below if I can figure out how to.

I guess the main questions are below:
1. What do you guys think this car is worth? (I really don't have the money he is asking for it, but don't want to piss him off it is really worth what he's asking) Before anyone gets pissed at me….I have 6 and could maybe stretch to something closer to what he's asking, but just want to make sure the money is going to something that is worth it.
2. Being a number matching car, how much of a problem would it be to pull the drive train out down the road to put something more street worthy into it? (something along the lines of Brett's car or a 396 with O/D) Would this completely destroy the value?
3. If I decided to take the bench seat out and replace it with buckets and a console would that be a major problem for it's value and rarity? (keeping all the original parts of course) I'd have to cut for the tranny, probably not looked fondly upon.
4. If I am planning on changing that many things on the car is it worth spending the extra money to get a numbers matching vehicle? (again, I would do whatever I can to make it possible to put it back to stock in the future)

What I really like about the car is a combination of all the things that make it a Beaumont, the dash, the rear end, etc, and the fact that it is a Beaumont. I would really love to have something that is truly rare, even if it isn't a true Chevelle….as I'm sure you guys won't hesitate to remind me down the road.

Thanks for all the help guys, feel free to let the opinions fly. I'll post the email from Terry and from the seller below

Dan

Here are some more pictures Ian sent me last night. You might just want to give him a call. He is a pretty good guy. We went to school together but never really knew each other very well. We met again years later when he was an electical contractor for our company. As for popular, I would think a Beaumont would be looked at much more than a comparible Chevelle in your area because it is unique. Chuck Hansen, (president of Aces) really wants a
66 SD 396 Convertible.
Ian said there is a little rust but that to me ALWAYS means there is more that that is hidden. I will tell you that if I had an extra 7500 bucks hanging around I would be looking real hard at it. It is numbers matching original which is darn hard to find. I don't think this car will be for sale very long. Terry

The car was bought new in 1966 by a friend's mother. She drove it in
Victoria till the late 80's then gave it to her son. It was painted
and his wife drove it for a few years. A mutual friend bought it in
1993 and it sat in his garage until 2001 when I bought it and it has
sat in my garage till present. In 2001 I changed oil, new distributor
cap, and spark plugs and it ran fine. The brakes and radiator need
work. There is some rust behind the rear wheels, but very little else.
The trunk, floor boards and frame look good. The car is in Campbell
River and please contact me to view.

First thing- is it $7500 US or Canadian? If its CDN, its closer to $7k US... Just something to keep in mind. That car looks to be a STEAL at $7k unless its completely full of rust! (doesn't appear to be in the pics!

Second... on a car like that... I wouldn't have second thoughts about modifying it in the way that you mention.

Reason? While cool that its mostly original- original 283 cars are not highly sought after.
If it were a SuperDelux Car with a big block in it- i would probably say pass and find something else to modify- but thats just a nice clean Grandma car screaming out to be made into a muscle car.

Just my thoughts..

I agree with Ben on swapping out motors. What you do is take out the orig motor but keep it. Keep all the orig parts you take off the car so down the road if you sell it you can give the buyer the option of making it original or keeping it as is. The car looks nice and for the price I agree with Ben that its a steel if its not full of rust.

For example my older bro has an orig #s matching 68 RS camaro. He pulled the power glide and 10 bolt and replaced them with a T 350 and 12 bolt. He kept the orig parts so it can be made orig again. He did change the paint color but it can always be taken back to stock pretty easy.
