If one bottle of octane booster in the tank is good, are two bottles better?
No bottles of octane boost is any good...

If the bottle says it will raise you 4 points, that means you will have 91.4 instead of 91 if you start with 91.

If I run race gas, my car slows down.

the only booster that works for me is a lead additive from Jack Podell. i have L78 cars with 11:1 compression and it is the only product that takes the pinging out of the engine.you can raise 94 oct to 100 if you want.this guy advertises in chevy times magizine. greg

I use Jack Podell's lead. It is real tetra-ethel lead. Extremely poisonous. Can be absorbed through the skin. Not for people who are sloppy or uncautious. Does what it is supposed to do. If you are not going to use extreme care, don't buy it. My opinion.

Jack is a good person to do business with.

We drive our L78 Chevelle (factory 11-1 spec.) quite a bit (32K miles over the last ten years). By jetting a little rich and playing with the advance curve, ours runs just fine on 91-93 unleaded. High octane gas needs lots of compression for it to ignite properly. It needs the compression heat. A lower compression engine running 112 octane gas, isn't going to run as well as if it was running 91. You see low compression stock cars running the high octane stuff then wonder why their whole exhaust system is red hot. Much of the gas is burning out there instead of in the combustion chamber. Retarded timing will have them glowing too. Get your fuel, timing, and jetting right and you don't need header wrap. I don't. Race specs and street specs shouldn't be confused. Tuning on a chassis dyno will do wonders for most cars. A wide band O2 sensor is a good investment too. It will probably pay for itself in gas savings alone.

And here...

http://www.kemcooil.com Kemco 130 Lead Supreme Octane Booster

It also raise's octane by numbers NOT points b/c it contains real TEL and right, darn stuff is poisonous!!

91.0 to 96.0 NOT 91.0 to 91.6!!

I'm ordering some if they ship to Canada? Solves issues for me thanx for the info.
When you drive a borderline car (compression wise) and have spent a ton on an engine bad fuel is scary. You need to be able to access the fuel you need on any long cruise. I hope this stuff is as good as the marketing guys make it out to be.
I use the Lucas stuff now or a bit of 116 (if I have it). When I race it's it's 50/50 112/94.

Another vote for Kemco,as I'm running 11 to 1 cr. Been using it all summer, lets me put my timing up where it belongs with no ping.1 quart per 15 gallon 93 octane fillup does it.Used to blend down with racing gas, this way much more cost effective.

I use the Torco race fuel accellerator

http://www.torcostore.com/p-85-accelerator-unleaded-race-fuel-concentrate-case-of-6.aspx

The stuff flat works and you can buy it in a 5 gallon drum for around $150 or in the single 32 oz can for $20. I use it in my 434 powered camaro with 13:1 if I am going to beat on it around town. Of course if I am headed to the track I use Sonoco suoreme, but who wants to burn $7 gallon gas cruising around town.

If you are in California give Joel a call and he usualy can save you a little money.

Doesn't NOS advertise their "off road" formula as adding whole points? I know what you guys are talking about raising in decimals because I've read the small print on the "cheaper" NOS ocatane boost cans. But, I remember reading the small print on the back of the off road formula and it specifically said whole point, not decimal.....what's up with that? I shoulda took a pic of it as my proof LoL :D
