howdy all....Jeff the new guy here...First - I have a 71 Chevelle Malibu with small block 350 (aftermarket) and TH350. Has HEI and factory air.)...(Its a driver car not a racer that i will drive mostly on the weekends cruising with my wife....) I just replaced all the wires in the entire car...(Thanks to AAW)..I have to replace the oil pan and gasket as the PO ran into something and bent it and now it leaks....After reading several threads on here - I am going to no mans land and attempt to pull my very first engine since it appears that majority says that pulling the engine is easier than trying to change the pan with the engine in....SO now for the question....
After i pull the engine ( its a 1980 from truck or van) so here are the options i was considering. I was thinking about buying a new one from JEGS / SUMMIT or engine factory ( possibly a 383 or another 350 - or a place you recommend - Im in Austin Texas). I would consider a refurb but really have no experience in what to look for to tell if it is a good refurb or not or just clean up, replace gaskets etc on the one now...
Any and all comments / advice welcome....
