I need to get a helmet for autocrossing and I have a bit of a headroom problem. The borrowed helment I use now hits the headliner unless I really pull myself into the seat with the belts.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a helmet which has a slightly thinner top portion? Any taller racers who've had to deal with this that can offer a suggestion? I'd prefer open face, but will take full face if I have to

Thanks, Kurt

"UNACCEPTABLE" (Beldar) LOL I loved that movie. Trash can special helmet is the way to go.

Kurt, just wear one of the new Latex helmets; they're so thin you lose none of the feeling and yet they're strong enough to protect without leaking, even after a really rough tumble. Headroom will be a problem of the past.

The model you should look for is the "Big Man's Sheik Sheath," if my memory serves me right.

I believe they even make a version that would work for Beldarr, too. If I'm not mistaken it's called the "Ribbed Cone Tingler."

Always here to help!

Kurt..Why dont you drive down to the local cycle or snowmobile shop and try on what they have...If you find one you like just look for the proper snell rating for your sanctioning body..

Thanks for the reply Tony.

I plan to do exactly that, but figured I'd ask here and see if anyone else had encountered this problem.

The best fitting helmet I ever used is a BMW brand helmet. I got it years ago and it may not be available anymore, it was convertable from full face to open face by a neat latch setup. Its very light and comfortable and seems to sit lower on my head than any others I've used. Used it when I was into being a biker but it turned out to be well suited for automotive use as well.
