Need Help With Tap & Die Rethreading

I have a question for the knowledgeable folks here at Team Chevelle. I am needing to find a die to rethread a 5/8 in bolt.

My problem is that it needs to be Reverse Thread. It is a 5/8 coarse thread but left hand thread.

I called Sears and the guy couldn't find anything in his catalog so I thought I would ask the all wise and all knowing at Team Chevelle. If someone has a catalog or knows of a web site I would really appreciate it

Thanks Rick

Don't know where Sigel, IL is, but look in a a good metro yellow pages for an industrial tool/supply outfit. Be prepared to get sticker shock  ! A 5/8-13 (?) L.H. tap isn't going to be cheap! Especially if you're only using it once.

Another thought would be to try a few local machine shops (not automotive, but tool & die). You may be able to convince them (by leaving a hefty cash deposit) to borrow one over a weekend.

Rick, I live in Casey, close by. There should be a machine shop in Effingham that would have a die. Or, as was suggested take the bolt to a machinist and have him chase the threads on a lathe. If the threads aren't too bad, you can use a triangular file or thread file and clean them up.
What kind of Chevelle do you have????

WHAT? you aught to think about that a little harder

mcmastercarr.com might have it. also msc.
but as suggested, a machine shop could chuck it up in the lathe and clean up the threads.

Thanks for all the info. What I need rethreaded is not a bolt but is a threaded part on the framework of a corn planter. The old threads are partly worn off so it will need built up and then new threads cut. Now I have someplace to check.

I don't think turning a die around will do what I need to do.
