I'm still somewhat new at this and apologize if this seems too simple, but I can't seem to get my dash pad off. The guy who sold me the car said all I had to do was remove the screws accross the front and it would slide right off. Mine doesn't seem to want to come off, and I don't want to damage any more than I have too (the dash pad is very bad). Thanks in advance for your help.

First check and make sure all the screws are out. Then push up and pull out. You may have to "tap" it slightly if its been in there a while.

Also,
there are a couple of screws in side the glove box, on the underside of the pad.

In my '70 there are four screws on the driver's side up above the steering wheel. Open the glove box and look at the top lip, you there are two more. Once these are removed the pad slips off. A little persuasion and the pad should pull straight back to you. Good Luck!

The screw just above the steering column is a pain to get to. Also, if it's loose all around the front but stuck in the back, the clips could be hanging on the indents in the sheet metal just below the windshield.

i remember mine well and use to have to push one end in toward the center to kinda bend it like a bananna (slightly) to get it out. hope this helps and check the glove compt. for screws (can't remember anything else special about removal) jk

Make sure the nuts on the bottom of the pad are loose enough to pull and lift.The guy who put mine on had them so tight that I had to remove the front of the dash to loosen the nuts.
