Hey everybody,

I am 20 year old college student and I drive my 65 chevelle daily. I built a 350 and droped in a muncie 4 speed in it a year or so back.

I was driving my 20 mile drive back from work...when all of a sudden my oil pressure was at 0.

I made sure its not the gauge, I took off where the gauge hooks up and cranked it over, nothing came out, I tuned it over without the valve cover off and no oil made it up there. None.

So I am getting no oil pressure. What could it be? PUMP?

We I unbolted my pan and jacked up the engine to try and get the pan out, no luck.

So my questions are:
Is there a way to get the pan out with engine and tranny in?
Could it be the pump?
If I pull clucth and tranny can I get the pan out?
Is the only way to take out the engine?

Thanks for any help.

not a stupid question at all. it's amazing the details that can be overlooked.

It's possible to get the pan off in the car but it's a real PITA. You'll have to turn the crankshaft to a position where neither the front rod journal or the front counterwight is straight down. Pull the distributor cap and unbolt the fan shroud if there is one. You have to jack it up till the engine starts lifting the car, then jam pieces of wood in between the motor mounts so you can get the jack out. You'll probably need to turn the crank a liitle after getting the pan part way out.

you need to make sure the distributor is turning while cranking the engine. If it is there's probably something wrong with the pump driveshaft.

When you have the engine jacked up to the limit while getting the blocks in the motor mounts is where you'll need to be careful about getting your hands smashed. If the engine falls on your hands it won't be any fun at all.

Good luck and don't hesitate to post on here if questions come up. There's a wealth of experience available to you here.
