So a buddy of mine wants me to test drive his car on a drag strip tomorrow and its got me a little nervous mostly in torque steer I am not going to have time to test drive it on an open stretch of pavement before I take it down the strip and I would really rather not lose control so can anyone tell me how hard a 1969 SS 396 stock 325 hp motor backed by a 700r4 and a posi (3:23 or 3:55) pulls? will I be looking at a ton of counter steering if I nail it off the line?

mines a 3.73 with drag radials and a 700r4 with a juiced up 396. Take it to the track, you won't lose it. Guaranteed, as Bill suggested about as much pull in that car as a late model cobalt.

I would not worry about it pulling too hard, or being out of control. That being said I think any car takes some getting used to before taking it out and running it.

it didn't happen today the guys at the track said it would be dry enough today to do it but unfortunately the rain didn't let up

Shouldn't be a problem unless he's one of these guys that induces swaying and sliding when they should be going straight. Anybody know somebody like that besides me?
