I know he reads this section so...

Just wanted to say that it was great, I learned a lot, and enjoyed reliving some motoring and business moments in time.

I told him that, for me, it was getting a chance to speak with someone who made and changed motoring history. He told me that his head was swelling and that I should stop while he could still get his head through the door.

Cam for my 511 BBC is now ordered. :beers:

Great guy! Everyone should get a chance to speak with someone like that someday.

Continued success to you Harold and again THANKS!
Fred

I agree. I spoke with Harold over the summer and ordered a SFT for my 461. Great guy, extremely knowledgeable. He sent me a new design that did not have a part number for it yet at the time. I love it, makes great power from about 2000 rpm and up.

Isn't he the former owner of Ultradyne cams that the IRS raided? I spoke with Tim at Ultradyne before the raid. He was the one behind some of the good cams and not behind the bottle like .... . Good luck nice guys finish last. I do want to point out that I am running an Ultradyne solid roller in my 406 and it rocks.

KUDOS FOR HAROLD

solid roller here.
he told me a story from way back when in history when computers used punch cards, and using them to crunch numbers. computers may have changed, but the fundamentals of cam design remain.................and harold is the man that knows how and why the fundamentals cannot change. i love it when you know the person you are talking to
understands the underlying technical math to support the end product.

this aint his first rodeo

thanks harold

The IRS raid is interesting.
The IRS never came in my buildings, as far as I know. We always met at my CPA's office, or in Federal Court in Aberdeen or Oxford, Ms. When UltraDyne was closed down, it was a Desoto County deputy sheriff with a Court Order.
BTW, I've been a diabetic for about 17 years, and cannot take ONE drink. I did drink a lot of cokes, though. I quit those in November, and have lost about 15 pounds. I am now at 211, and still losing.

tim worked for me for 21 years, and was one of my 2 right-hand men. He has a very smooth way with customers, and certainly knows how UltraDyne cams work.
There will be no more UltraDyne cams designed. I am doing better stuff now.

i can't say enough how courteous and down to earth harold was when i spoke to him. i was speaking to the babe ruth of cam design and to be honest i never thought id get to actually talk to him and ask him questions. can't wait to get my new cam ordered!

I had a few conversatons with him when i ordered my cam a few months agao. Hell of a nice guy. And the cam took .6 off my et.;)

I went with a Bullet Ultradyne Cam and belive I lost a few HP/TQ against my old UDHAROLD 280/284F10 247/251 525/530 110. Only major changes was swaping all my parts into a Dart SBC 400 and changing the heads to AFR 195 Comp PKGs heads. Not sure what was the ultimate loss of power. But maybe it was the different dynos ....
Kudos to UDHarold....

Harold,

pdq67 here!!!

Write that friggin' book before us old farts bite the dam dust!!

The "pup's" need to know our history just like Harvey C. did on his web site and Ed I. did with his camshaft "blurbs" in his old cats way back then.

I can't, but I know that you can.

If no other than hand write your story and snail-mail it to me so's I can turn it into a word doc and send it back to you!!

Went from a 60103 voodoo 268 FT to a custom ground billet roller with Beehive springs. Went from 12.46 to 11.86 first time out with a stumble every time out the hole. Taking my 3" flowmasters off Friday for 3" magnaflows and without the stumble will go 11.6's-11.7's I'm sure.;)

Very inconsiderate of you to speak of Harold like this.
I have spoken to Harold on a couple of occasions, and he is a gentleman, and a true pioneer in the art of camshaft design.

I think anytime a site like this has someone like Harold who is willing to give us expert advice on a hobby / sport we love we should all be grateful. What happened with his business is none of ours! Thanks for being part of this site Harold.

Harold gave me great advice on a cam several years ago when I started planning my combo (yes it's been on hold for a long time). Now that I have my combo plan in place and have decided to take his advice again and go with the same cam Bob West uses for my 496.
Harold, how do I contact you to order this cam?

Thanks

(662) 562-4933. That is from memory. I have the same cam as Guy and am going with a new one soon.
