Seems every day now I get 4 or 5 emails from "Joe Smoe" or some other unknown source. The "sender" is different each time. I use Outlook Express and when you highlight the message there is never any writing, just an attachment. I never open the message nor the attachment. Starting to get under my skin

Lightfoot,

I've been getting the same thing here at work for the past two weeks. We have a bunch of guys here at work with thick glasses and pocket protectors that protect our computers. So when I receive one of these e-mails there's a message attached notifying me that the attachment has been quarantined. Better just delete those e-mails or you’ll be looking at a blank screen.

With Outlook Express, you should be able to block the sender of those emails. Are they coming from the same domain (ie: hotmail.com or yahoo.com)? If they are, highlight the message, go to the message menu, and choose block sender! After that, you go into the blocked senders list and block the entire domain (don't do this if it is hotmail, because you won't get email from anyone else using a hotmail account). I use it all the time and the amount of spam I am getting is reducing slowly but surely.

I've only received one like that in the last week. Usually Norton will report it as a virus even in Outlook Express' view box. Norton didn't indicate a virus. I contacted the person and he said he never sent it. Don't know what happened. Dumped it without opening it.

Been getting a load of those "e-mails" too, don't have a clue as to why either. I just delete them. I use Outlook too.

With all this crap going on I thought I better update my virus software. Went into McAfee and downloaded everything, but then got a frozen window when all was done. To add insult to injury, it removed the existing version of McAfee I had so now I've got none - DUH. I called their suppost line which is in California (quite a distance for me) and got cut off about three times and left hanging for about 20 minutes with no answer

. Have probably paid $50 in long distance charges for that

. Finally emailed them and asked for my money back, I had enough. Waiting for response and confirmation of that.

Norton - here I come.

Recently I received the Amish computer virus, which is a nasty and deceptively simple progrm which asks one to delete his entire windows directory.
Fortunately, I already had my Polish anit-virus setup which had already deleted all the files on my hard drive.

Worked out quite well for me.

Hey Chevello Carfull about that Amish virus
It gums up your key-board with Sho-fly pie crumbs. Let alone the powdered suger from the funel cake.
But my ISP has been swamped with users with the Klex virus. My wife opend a attachement and infect my CPU. Got it fix but was a PITA. This virus sends atachements to all in your outlook address book !!!

I've been getting the same thing..

If you're using Outlook, right-click on the message header and select "Properties". Then select the "Details" tab. Near the top, you should see a Return-Path <emailaddress@domain>.

This is the person who has the W32.Klez.gen@mm Virus. It apparently hides the sender's identity.

A person I know has it on their computer & I think everytime they launch their email, it sends out another round of spam that's infected with the virus. I've sent them a message asking them to at least delete my email address from their address book until they can disinfect their machine. So far they have not. Starting to get real old.

I tried blocking their messages, but I haven't figured out how to do it - given that the virus seems to change the "Sender" everytime.

If anyone knows how to block this, let me know!

I am getting them every day too and they all have a virus attached. I had 4 today and on top of that I am getting many porn site ads, some of which have virus's attached. I update my PC-cillin program every day with auto update and so far none have infected my unit. Mine is so old that Windows 95 is the most recent program on it!

I logged onto this site about two hours ago and since then I have had two more emails, both had virus's attached. There seems to be a connection with my contacts here.

Gentlemen. I am very glad that I logged onto this site today. I thought that I was the only person having this problem. Mines started two days ago. When I go into Outlook Express, I keep getting a lot to "Returned mail" that I know I didn't send. I suspected that someone had somehow infected my computer and the virus was spreading to every
e-mail adress in my mailing list. I WILL KEEP CHECKING THIS SITE EVERYDAY. IF ANYONE COMES UP WITH AN EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO THIS TRBL, PLEASE POST IT HERE SO ALL OF US CAN BEBEFIT FROM IT!!!

This is a nasty side effect of the Klez series of worms. Scan your computers and make sure you're clean. If you are then you have to get the mail header and inform the <return-path> person that they're infected. My car club (Connecticut Chevelle Connection) has been having this problem so bad that we're shutting down our mail address DAMN WORMS

just went through the klez deal on mine. with suggestions from this sight all is well now but if you are infected the first thing i did was delete all addresses in my address book so it would not get sent anymore then unhooked my phone line until i got it resolved. the symantec sight was very helpful. since removing the virus and installing norton i have had no problems. i had my ISP dump my inbox (432 E-MAILS) before restarting. but now i am very cautious about any of them i can't identify. it is really a shame people don't have anything better to do than create these viruses. well good luck to all.JIMK
