I just took my 66 out for it's first spring ride. When I backed it out of the garage there was a small puddle of tranny fluid on the floor. It looks like it could be the front seal. I dont want to get into a tranny drop right now. What is everyones opinion of the stop leak products. I hope once I run it a little it might stop. Didnt leask last fall. I know I wont be this lucky and a leak usually requires replacing or tightening something. Any comments or opinions on stop leak products??

The front seal usually leaks only while the engine is running, so I doubt that it is actually the front seal. I don't recommend quik fix stop leaks for anything, they might work for awhile, but can do other damage that you don't want. They have chemicals that cause rubber to swell, which might be OK for something to pawn off on someone if you don't have a concious. Jack the car up and take a look. Dry everything off real good, use brake plarts cleaner and spray down the wet areas, and blow dry if possible, and let it set, you may need to use a small mirror and a light to see. If it is leaking out the front pump area, it might be the front pump "O" ring. Check the shift lever seal, pan gasket, passing gear cable, dipstick, rear seal, speedometer housing. Anything leaking above the pan rail will leak down to the rail and follow the pan and fool you, that's why it is important to dry everything off real well and let it set for awhile.

I wouldn't use it. If you do plan on fixing it, you won't be able to get that stuff out. I used their tranny fix stuff, it was like putting mud in the trans. But this was an 86 Caprice Classic that I had no intent on pulling the trans out of. But did it happen before you started it, or after? Mine was leaking from the front seal last year. It doesn't have to be running to leak. Until the converter drains back into the trans it can leak. That's why I ask if the fluid was there already. Otherwise like was said, start checking around.
