Hey all. I've been getting this message saying I have low disk space on my C: drive. I know I have a decent amount of 'stuff' on this drive, but that's why I have a second drive, drive E:. The C: has 44.8 MB left on it, whereas the E: has 127 GB. Can I transfer some of the stuff from the C: to the E:, and will that solve my problem? Whats teh best way to go about doing that?

Thanks,
Chris

Do a search for .dmp files and .tmp files, delete them.

Run the disk cleanup wizard.

Remove old, un needed programs.

Move pictures etc to the other drive.

See how it goes from there.

Thanks alot. It all worked well. I now have 473 MB of free space. Is that enough? The only thing I didn't do was the .dmp files. How do I go about finding them? I deleted the temporary internet files, which I assumed was the .tmp files, but couldn't really find the .dmp files.

Thanks again,
Chris

You have to go to Start/Search/Files and folders. Click all Files and Folders. Go to Advanced and check the box "Search Hidden Files and Folders." Enter .dmp in the search box, Click search.

473 is not a lot. Do you know what size your hard drive is? I am also assuming you are running XP.

Another thing to try in some instances is moving the swap file to another partition. It doesn't always allow you to move it to a different physical drive, but if it is on a separate partition on the same physical drive then it will work. Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced - Performance. From there you can move the swap file to a different partition (generally you are best to let the system take car of the size).
