How many of you guys are running ladder bars? I bought my new rearend and when I put it in I'm thinking about getting a set of bolt in ladder bars from a buddy. Do they really help or should I stay with my big rear sway bar (1 3/8") and get a set of lift bars? Or should I get the ladder bars and get lift bars? thanks

I don't know about the other people here, but I have the old school (painted yellow) Lakewood ladderbars on my 66' BB 4sp. and I love em'! Yea, they look old and maybe outdated, but I really like them. I had considerable wheel hop before I bought them years ago, and it completley dissapeard.

I guess it also depends on what your going to do with the car? Straight liner dragracing or pro-touring, it might make a difference.

If you intend to drive it on the street at all I would NOT run ladder bars... They bind up all movement of the rear suspension by working through 2 conflicting swing-arms, and the only way the rear suspension can move at all is through a little bit of bushing compliance.

They ride terrible, handle terrible, and there are better ways to fix wheelhop. Lift bars work very well if your car is close to stock ride-height. If your car is lifted much more than an inch, no-hops will work better. If your car is lowered more than an inch, it shouldn't need anything, as wheelhop would be cured by the geometry change of lowering alone.

The main thing to remember on ladder bars, is that they are intended to strengthen stock suspension. If you were to take out your old arms and sway bar and put in the Hotchkis suspension with adjustable upper arms, and larger diameter sway bar you wouldnt need ladder bars, and it looks great! I had the same yellow bars in my 72 chevelle, removed them and added the Hotchkis, and I love everything about it. Either method does basically the same thing but the look of the Hotchkis is what I preferred. Jeff
