I am about to install jet extensions on a Holley DP. What other modifications other than notched floats are neccesary? I recall reading an old post that mentioned clipping a nipple. Now I have been unable to locate that post.

Obviously, I have not done this before and would like to find out before I start. Thanks

That's all I've ever done. extensions and the nitrophyl notched float.

Only nipple I can thing of is the end of the orange umbrella for the accerator pump check valve that sticks up and will hit the float, but really this needs to be clipped with any float.

Here it is installed. on the other side there will be a little nipple sticking up, trim it off just after the bulge, figure a 1/4 inch.

Not every float bowl has one of these, some have a check ball.

how about the stainless push on extensions? are they just as good? It seems like they would let the fuel in the extension go to the back of the carb.

I have not seen them. The extensions are mainly used on the secondary. This prevent exposure on secondary jets when you slam the gas paddle. The one turbodave is showing I prefer that one.

UPS delivered. I installed the notched float and extensions without any problems. I did a jet change at the same time so I had off both bowls. Both of my floats were resting on the little orange umbrellas. I never would have known to check this. I clipped the tips off each. Thanks again.

I remember reading on Erics site (or maybe in one of his discussions) that you need to set the foam plastic floats a little differently than you would a brass float. You might want to check that out too.
