I've been looking through previous postings for quite some time now trying to figure out how to remove the quarter window glass. It seems like a lot of them say "this is going to be another how do I remove the qtr glass thread" but I can't find those! Can anyone help me out or send me a link to a thread?

All I really found so far was removing them on a 67. Mine is a 70. Will the procedure be the same?

Thanks.

The glass is a major pain to replace in these cars. I would highly recommend that you pick up a copy of the Fisher Body Service manual before attempting it.

And here is how I recall removing mine from my '70 velle...

Take out everything but the regulator and glass (stops, etc.). Then I unbolted the regulator from the glass and carefully leaned glass back-wards against the wheel well, then removed the regulator (I can't remember how much of a pain this was). Then I carefully rolled glass forward and worked it out of the 1/4 panel. If I remember correctly I had to spin the glass either 90* right or left to get it to clear the opening due to stuff mounted on the glass. Take your time and use logic and patience and you should be fine. BUY the Fisher Body Manual. It is worth 10x what they charge for it.

I picked up one of those body assembly manuals the other day hoping that would help but the one I got looks like it was copied off of copies made in 1970. I can't even make out some of the words on the page! These windows are a PITA, I was contemplating just breaking them but thought I'd check around here first.

I'll have to pick up that Fisher Body manual too.

Thanks everyone for the help!

I just went through this. I normally take a paint brush and paint around all of the mounting bolts and nuts before removing (easier to align everything later) is the wuarter vent register and u-channel seal off?

Remove all stops. Remove bottom bolt and loosen top bolts of the guide the glass slides up and down on. Remove the 2 top guide bolts. Holding the glass, slide the guide toward the bottom towards the wheel housing. Operate the regulator to free the glass from it. You will have to rock the glass back and forth to free it from the regulator nylon roller.

Once the glass is free, lift it up and away from the drip rail. It should come right out. It will be close to rubbing the drip rail.

During installation, I leave the guide unfastened and as I slide the glass in align it with the guide and regulator at the same time. You can then reinstall the guide and adjust it to the paint marks.
