How do you guys get rid of your used lacquer thinner and cleaning solvents? The local recycling place wont take it, they call it commercial waste. I have a couple of gallons that need to go. I wouldn't dream of just dumping it but no one wants it  .

Bring it down here and I'll get rid of it for you.

Towns here have residential HAZMAT twice yearly. How do you get rid of house paint? One method is to pour it over objects, let it dry so the solvents evaporate, and dispose of it in the recycling center dumpster. When doing demo work, that is what the refuse companies tell you because they do not want paint cans filled with uncured paint thrown in their roll-offs. Lacquer thinner will eventually evaporate, leaving the solids behind; no different than when using it or any reducer when spraying. You can throw a little in 5 gallons of waste oil too.

Don't think there's any solids in thinner...

I use it to clean carbs or other parts, leave it in an open metal can for a few days and it'll be gone.

If it sits long enough the solids will settle then slowly dump it into a clean can for reuse. Eventually you have mostly unusable waist just let it evaporate to a solid and toss out or burn it in a fire.

I'm in wilson county north of you wilson county has a hazardous chemical collection at the fair grounds but its generally in september. I think they may take it. I usually forget the date or I'm out of town. Don't known if your county tags will cause rejection and they may have a collection in the spring. Ask some of your wilson county club members to keep a eye out for the date.
