I see that there is only one code for manual trans, and that was the 375 hp. is this correct?
Can't imagine where you found that...?

Mike is correct there were only 3 hp ratings for the 396 in 1967, 325hp, 350hp, and 375hp. The particular suffix code was dependant on transmission type and whether California destined or not (A.I.R.).

See http://macswebs.com/cddemo/67cd/etr/engines/idcodes.html for all 67 Chevelle engine codes.

{Edit}
By the way, you'll only find the horsepower code on the engine block itself. There's nothing in the VIN or on the trim tag that'll give the car's original engine's horsepower rating if that's where you're going.
