I'll try again

I have 2 3/8 inches total between water pump pulley and radiator.

I need a fan

how did you guys do it who had tight clearance like I do?

can a lincoln mk 8 fan be used as a pusher?

how about a dual electric fan. will it clear that pulley?

how about a windstar fan?

THANK YOU!!!

Long or short water pump?

What engine?

What chassis?

long water pump

You could switch to a short pump, use a direct drive flex fan, or go with dual electric fans.

I say duals so the motors are offset to the sides. I guess you could do a singe and offset the fan motor to one side, it would just look odd to me.

thanks man. Its either gonna be the flex fan or the duals.

do flex fans make less noise than the non flex mechanicals?

My experience with flex Fans were noisy.Different than mechanical fans, but not quiet. There was a guy in the cooling section recently that got a Flexa-lite 7 blade flex that was quirt for him. It came from summit. If you go dual electric, Derale has a set up thats fair priced but pulls alot of amps. You can talk to the tech guys at summit. My dual 210 set up was cheaap and thin. It rides at about 180-205 depending on air temp, I do not have alot of traffic to deal with tho, it will stay about 200 to 205 idling inline to get into track or stage on a 90 - 95 deg. day.

thanks man. I saw the mini review for the flex 1817 so I ordered it (the 1818)

I youtubed flex fans to hear the noise and its not very pleasant. I'll be tired of it in a week. but, it gives me time to figure out which electric I want.

I rechecked the clearance and its actually 3 1/4 so a dual fan setup should definitely work.

I heard that those flex fans move some major air though.

congrats again on your 11.39

I don't care for flex fans, but it is an option. I have heard of blades coming off at high revs.

I switched to the windstar setup mainly because of safety. I had a direct drive fan with no shroud. I was setting total timing and thought to myself, "If that sucker decides to schuck a blade at 3k, I'm gonna be hurtin". I decided it was cheaper than buying a shroud. I get alot of compliments on how nice they fit and look.

I also have a set of really nice fans from an almost new grand am. They are smaller in size but still move a ton of air.

A stock fan with a fan clutch is considered to move much more air than a flex fan.
wouldnt that depend on the fan, pitch, size, etc?

I read that after gm had some overheating problems on some of their 70s vettes, they switched to flex fans from clutch fans and eliminated the problem. is this right?

also, dont flex fans last longer?

how much clearance is needed for the minivan setup and did you have to upgrade the alternator?

I bet if you go to stevesnova.com you can do a search over there and see what others are doing for the clearance issue. jim

Ok guys I'm taking off the flex 1818 and want to either add dual electrics. Can someone tell me so dual setups I can pull from the jy that move major air? I also have a 12inch electric in the front as a pusher
