Just rebuilt a tranny 400 turbo and purchased a 10" TCI street fighter stalls at 3500, Previous had a Trans King 3500 stall. While doing a burnout and coming out of the water and the car starts hooking it pulls the motor down likes its going to kill it. With the previous convertor you could stay on it and keep burning out with out dragging the motor down. Any ideas on why its doing that? The car ran 11.66@118 60ft 1.725. With the other convertor it went 11.58@116 60ft 1.620. Took the car out today and it wouldnt run, like it had no power, had a 1.758 60ft. The rpms slowly went up short shifted at like 5,000 rpms and the car ran 13.14@100. Launched and it wouldnt go, shifted into 2nd started backing off the gas like 3/4 throttle and it acted like it was starting to move. So i smashed it and shifted into 3rd and it wouldnt run. It shifts smooth and motor sounds fine. All that was done to the car from last year was rebuilt tranny and different convertor and new TCI valve body. Any ideas on whats going on????

the sprag I am talking about is in the converter,The sprag you are talking about is in the trans and located on the direct drum I think.

Converter sprag is my guess also.

It sounds like the same thing that happened last year to my friend.
He bought a brand new 9inch from Hughes.
It made two trips to the track with a total of about 8 runs.
On the third outing it started to slow down and the trans was acting funny.
He pulled it and instected the trans.Nothing was wrong.
He sent the converter back to Hughes.
They tore into it and found that it was trashed.
They sent him a new one.

You might ask the place for a refund and then get a converter from Steve Oldani on this board.
His member name is Oldani Motorsports.
He sells the same TCI products that Jegs and Summit do for cheaper, that's including shipping.

He sells TCI, BTE, and JW.After having a couple of Street/Strip CTI converters myself I would try the BTE.Many people on this board (including myself) and many others have bought from him with no problems.Good knowledge, and many other parts available. No I'm not affiliated with him.He is just cheaper and he knows what he is talking about, unlike the Jegs and Summit keyboard punchers.

His site is here
