I am having trouble removing the posi unit from my 10 bolt rearend. The posi makes it so there is no room to access the c-clips. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you remove the large pin that goes between the two axles? If not there is a bolt that holds the pin in... take it out and remove the pin, you should have no problem pushing the axle toward the center and getting c-clips out.

Dan's right, remove the cross pin, push an axle in and rotate it, you should hear the clip fall out. To reinstall it push the axle in and install a clip with some long needle nose pliers.

Sometimes there is rust and other crud built up on the axle just outside of the axle seal. This can sometimes cause the axle to be hard to push in. If you have reomved the cross shaft and you still can't get the axle in far enough to get the c clip off, try hitting the end of the axle with a mallet and see if it will move in farther. I would change the axle bearings and seals after this.

So it is common to have to remove the pin that goes through the carrier to install the c-clips? I just got my 12 bolt back from being built up today, and noticed that when I slid the axle shafts in, they hit the pin. The spider gears or anything else wont fall out will they?

When the c-clips are installed, how much room should there be between the end of the axle shaft and the pin?

They shouldn't as long as you don't turn the axles or carrrier once the pin is removed. A small magnet on the end of a 'stick' will help if the clips fall into the carrier.
