Pretty much all of my performance motor experience is with diesels so any help is appreciated. I’m looking to build a 600/600 crank big block strictly for street use mated to a manual transmission, most likely a TKX. Just looking for a fun reliable driver and will retain the current vintage air AC.
I bought a second chassis I’m going to box, add a complete modern suspension setup to (most likely UMI as they’re local), drop on the new motor and tranny, plumb, wire and get to the point where my body can be put on after a fresh strip and paint.
Id like to be able to rev the motor to 7k just for fun, I’m all about over building things but don’t know what the best direction would be to go. A 496 that isn’t working very hard at those power levels or a 468 and save some money? Im not on any kind of budget but don’t like spending money unnecessarily either. I have an LQ4 6.0 in my garage I bought with the intention of boosting but I just don’t think I can get away from the sound and feel of a big block.
I don’t have a donor motor or anything so I can look for and pick up whatever at this point, even a short block if aftermarket heads are highly recommended. I’m open to about any opinion, thanks for the help guys.
