I'm sure its been discussed to death on here but I've read so many posts I've confused myself, so I could use some assistance.

Heres what I have: 454, T0509TRH, no vin stamped, casting 3999289 also has B7-73 on rear of engine I believe and GM T-12 as well. Says Hi Perf PA 8 also.

Heads 14092360 one says C070 and the other C140

So I think its a truck motor, but am confused on the year--- 73?

heads from 85-89 truck

I'm wanting a street car nothing too wild around 400 Hp? so am considering Edelbrock RPM intake, RPM heads and cam. With headers, M21 trans and 3:73 gear this should work pretty well if I leave the bottom end stock? Its been rebuilt by an engine shop to stock so should be approx 7.9-8.0 to 1 if I'm reading right.

Thanks, Steve

Great Tony. Thanks. My heads are from a later truck so I'll need to figure out if that matters or find some earlier heads. Using my phone now and it's too small to read the article so I'll look at it tomorrow at the office.
