your right BF is Fremont, BT is Arlington..I always mix them up..

 

I think '6' is a beige vinyl top and black was coded 2.

What reference is that, the same that shows "3" as medium blue on 67s that's really "4"? My info comes from GM and numerous body tags on Willow Green, Sandalwood Tan, and Aztec Bronze 66s and 2 is shown for black. I show "6" for Beige in 66 and Light Fawn in 67.

 

Looking at this color and interior, beige would seem like a oddball color for the top with black interior on Turquoise.

Waiting to see if he will reponse with the top color.

My info is from several sources.. I am not saying I am right but I have seen contradictions with 1966 top colors in the past.

 

Any combinations could have been ordered if the customer wanted it and some were probably pretty strange. According to the info sent from GM on the 66, only two vinyl top colors were available - black or beige with any exterior color (my emphasis) - and white was added for convertible tops. The Chevelle decoder program sold here on TC doesn't even acknowledge a vinyl top (or convertible top on 13x67 series) number for an upper color in 66 or 67. Maybe other years too, didn't check.

Of the 3 beige top tags I have (2 vinyl and one convertible), one is Aztec Bronze w/Fawn interior (Malibu-M6), one is Willow Green w/Black interior (SS-H6) and one is Sandalwood w/Fawn interior (Malibu convertible-T6).

There has to be someone here that owns one, or knows an owner, of an Aztec Bronze car with a Beige top, I've seen 'em at CB in past years. Hopefully they might catch wind of this thread and enlighten us.

 

my 66 no longer has a vinyl top...the car is painted a much brighter turqouise than the stock color...the interior has been redone in grey tweed on the door panel and seats...the dash and console are still black along with the dash pad....it was really done in a tasteful way...thanks for all the info....i am in the process of fixing some small things right now but it will be on the road again this weekend

 

i will get some pics up soon...i am sooooo very proud to be the cars new owner....it is a keeper for sure....
