Looks like I answered my own question but I will post anyhow to be sure.
I have an after market tachometer (Auto Meter) and a GM-HEI distributor. The schematic shows the green wire from the tach going to the (-) negative side of the coil. Is the tach terminal on an HEI distributor cap (-) negative.
I read a little further it says on electronic ignitions such as GM HEI connect wire to tach terminal.
