I'm in the process of installing a pair of Sanderson headers on my 67 malibu. I am planning on replacing the factory pipes once i've got the headers in (figured i could save a couple of bucks on labor by doign them myself). I've run into a little bit of a snag, it looks like i'm not going to be able to get the factory pipes to bolt up to the new headers as the flanges are two different sizes. Would it be safe to drive the 4 or so miles of surface streets to the muffler shop, or do i need to trailer it over?

Well..Sounds like a fun ride to me! I've done it many times. Just stay off the gas and hope the boys in blue are not around. Every time I have done this I called the muffler shop and told the manager I was on the way. Hopeful that if I got stopped, I could tell the police I was going directly to the muffler shop. A quick phone call back to the shop would confirm this. rb6667

Your going to run open headers then right? You don't mean running no exhaust whatsoever do you? You'll be fine running open headers....i've done it before. You might want to take rb6667's advice though. "the boys in blue" don't like open headers much.

if youre running the shorty sandersons its not recommended running them open. if you ckack the throttle a few times youll see the flames shooting out of them look below and youll find a starter, fuel line and an oil filter not a good idea
